nedit doesn't properly refresh display

HI all, I've just upgraded my system to Slackware 12.2 and now, nedit
doesn't refresh the display properly : when scrolling up, it simply
fill its window with a couple of random lines from the file. Selecting
all forces refreshing; however that makes nedit close to unusable.

I've tried compiling nedit myself; it's slightly better in a way (it
refreshes correctly) but worse in some other way (I have to clear all
my .Xresources customization or nedit crashes instantly). Furthermore,
I'd need to compile and install openmotif because the lesstif on my
system isn't supported but I postponed this, because I have no other
significant motif application which isn't lesstif compatible.

I think the nedit 5.5 official linux binary is well due a refresh or
perhaps a new version to run on latest x.org, isn't it?

Hi,

If I remember well, I already had this problem under Mandriva + KDE 3.4
or 3.5 (one or two years ago). This problem did not appear with Gnome. I
don't know what it is related to.

Eric.

Concerning lesstif, two facts.

1. There is some work underway in lesstif CVS to make it usable again (earlier versions were better...).
Perhaps we can get a new release that can be supported officially again.

2. This is what I use, a lesstif CVS snapshot with patches to fix various issues:

http://sobukus.de/lesstif/lesstif-0.950.0.tar.bz2

(see older thread on this list about the lesstif/openmotif issue in GNU systems)
I'm running nedit 5.6 (from CVS...) on a custom GNU/Linux system (well, an install of Source Mage) with x86_64 architecture, using this lesstif... Xorg 1.6 and all that freshness.
It didn't crash on me yet.

Alrighty then,

Thomas.

Yes, I've tried the nedit CVS version too but with a standard lesstif
it was hardly better.
