autoload.nm/.neditmacro

Hello,
I installed nedit 5.5 under SuSE Linux 10.3.
From a previous installation I copied .neditmacro, even renamed it
to autoload.nm and put it into $HOME/.nedit.
It looks as if nedit does not recognize either of the two files;
at least in the macro menu only the predefined macros are listed.
I cannot use any of my (helpful) macros.
What am I missing?
Thanks.
K. Jantzen.

Macro Menu entries are stored inside the nedit.rc (previously known as .nedit).

That could be.
But as far as I understand autoload.nm/.editmacro (and how it worked
with 5.4) the self defined macros
should be made available in some menu -- and that does not work in my
installation of 5.5.

No, in autoload.nm are only macro definitions and macro code that is
executed at startup. Any menu entries are in nedit.rc/.nedit and no
'automatic menu' entries are created from the content of autoload.nm.

Klaus.
I never realized in detail how the extension of the macro menu is
stored. It just worked fine.
Recreating the working environment on my laptop as substitue for my PC
that was out of commission
I was a little bit under stress : I only realized that nedit did not
work as I had experienced it on the PC.
With you explanations everything is clear now and working as expected.

Thanks.

Klaus.
